   THE CROWD FACTOR

There are many factors in sports. A popular one is The Crowd Factor (sometimes called The Noise Factor) often referred to in cliche comments like: "The crowd is becoming a factor". One could just as easily say: "The crowd is starting to get very loud", but this doesn't sound too impressive. When a sports analyst or announcer points out a `factor', there is a scholarly air about it, like a professor discussing economic factors.

Some common sports factors are:

        The injury factor.

        The fatigue factor.

        The clock factor.

        The time factor.

        The wind factor.

        The humidity factor.

        The altitude factor.

        The experience factor.

        The psychological factor.

        The X-factor.

        The motivation factor.

        The revenge factor.

        The mental factor.

...and of course "The Elway factor".
